Restore a ‘Missing’ Icon to Your Windows 7 Taskbar

Subscriber Jim wrote in with this problem:

"In some manner I've misplaced the icon for Internet IE in my Taskbar and can't frame out how to mend it. Might sound inarticulate, but I've worn out hours with no results."

Doesn't sound obtuse at all, Jim. As my papa likes to say, "Everything is easy if you know how." And if you don't know how to fix this especial scuffle, well, zilch user-friendly or so information technology!

That said, you earn one demerit for not telling me which version of Windows you'atomic number 75 running. So I'm going to assume information technology's Windows 7; apologies to you and other readers if it's non.

To restore Internet Explorer to the Taskbar, all you need to do is chance an icon for it. Any icon, anyplace in Windows. Here's one easy approach:

1. Click Start.

2. Type Internet.

3. When Internet Adventurer appears in the menu, right-suction stop it.

4. Click Trap to Taskbar.

Presto: There's your Internet Explorer icon! Needless to say, this method works for any program you want to pin kill there. And if you desire to remove it, just right-come home its Taskbar icon and choose Unpin this program from taskbar.

If memory serves, XP and Vista want that context-menu "pinning" pick, but you backside even as easily drag an Internet IE icon from the Commencement or Each Programs menu to the Taskbar. (If I'm remembering incorrectly, readers, net ball me know!)
